Boot problems
Some experiences related to booting problems with Windows XP - "Hal.dll is missing or courrpt" (various versions). This proved to be complete nosense. I edited the partition root file boot.ini and put the first line in the operating systems section as the default. Then this error appeared. So, when you get this error - verify your boot.ini syntax. - "Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem." (various versions) Check your boot.ini again, I accidently enteed the wrong partition number and got this error, the last digit about partitions (I guess it was) counts from 1, not 0, but the others does. - When trying to boot an existing XP system on a new machine, make sure you install the standard driver for the IDE controller instead of the Intel version in the original system before booting.
