Samba missing smbpasswd

On Raspberian I encountered a problem where smbpasswd did not exist 
after install of Samba (using apt-get install samba).

To add users, there are at least two options:

A) install smpasswd using apt-get install samba-common-bin, then run smbpasswd -a username

B) use pdbedit, pdbedit -a -u username
