Canon CanoScan LiDE scanners comparison

A comparison of Canon CanoScan LiDE scanners.

The Canon CanoScan LiDE series are a set of small USB driven flatbed scanners.

The naming of these scanners are somewhat confusing and it can be hard to tell which scanner that is newer and/or better than the other.

The scanners are named using numbers, 100, 110, 200, 210, 300 and so on.

The first digit seems to be the product sub category number, the second seems to be the version number within the category.

So 200 is superseded by 210 which is superseded by 220, but 300 is another product category so it is not better than the 200, 210 or 220.

Product name - optical dpi resolution - USB type - scan speed in color

25 series - 1200x2400

25 - 1200x2400 - "USB" - 16 msec/line (600 dpi), 32 msec/line (1200 dpi)

50 series

50 - 1200x2400 - 2.0 - 6.4msec/line (600 dpi) 12.7msec/line (1200 dpi)

90 series - 2400x4800

90 - 2400x4800 - 2.0 - 2.7 msec/line (300 dpi), 18.9 msec/line (2400dpi)

100 series - 2400x4800

100 - 2400x4800 - 2.0 - 5.5 msec/line (300 dpi), 16.9 msec/line (2400 dpi)
110 - 2400x4800 - 2.0 - 3.7 msec/line (300 dpi), 16.7 msec/line (2400 dpi)
120 - 2400x4800 - 2.0 - 3.7 msec/line (300 dpi), 16.7 msec/line (2400 dpi)

200 series - 4800x4800

200 - 4800x4800 - 2.0 - 2.5 msec/line (300 dpi), 33.3 msec/line (4800 dpi)
210 - 4800x4800 - 2.0 - 2.2 msec/line (300 dpi), 33.2 msec/line (4800 dpi)
220 - 4800x4800 - 2.0 - 2.2 msec/line (300 dpi), 33.2 msec/line (4800 dpi)

300 series - 2400x2400

Beware, the most logic should have been that the 300 series has higher resolution than the 100 and 200 series. But this is not the case, the 300 series has lower resolution.

300 - 2400x2400 - 2.0 - 2.2 msec/line (300 dpi), 14.8 msec/line (2400 dpi)

4000 series - 4800x4800

400 - 4800x4800 - C - 1.7 msec/line (300 dpi), 25.4 msec/line (4800 dpi)
