Debian 8+ - Chromium is not currently your default browser

Whatever I tried I could not get rid of the "Chromium is not currently your default browser" notice on browser startup.

There are plenty of solutions to this online.

But one I did not found was that there are at least two(!) chromium binaries in a Debian 9 system:

/usr/bin/chromium
/usr/lib/chromium/chromium

I had linked to the lib version, which always resulted in the warning. By using the bin version I got rid of the warning.
