Brasero - Refuses to erase or record on CD-RW

For some kind of reason Brasero in Debian Jessie 8.3 refused to erase or record on a CD-RW that had been stopped in the middle of a write operation. Every try it refused to do its job and ejected the disc.

The solution was to use wodim in a terminal to blank the disc.

sudo wodim dev=/dev/cdrom blank=fast

Note that you do not need to change /dev/cdrom. wodim does not seem to care, the actual machine had two drives and it detected the disc automatically.
